History

Government Polytechnic, Morni is situated in the heart of Panchkula City. This city is known & famous for its natural beauty as it enjoys the thickest forest cover in the entire State of Haryana. The city is well designed with a systematic layout, and wide roads adorned with beautiful trees and buildings that compliment the modern outlook of the planning. Besides Panchkula city, the district has five towns, Pinjore, Kalka, Barwala, Morni and Raipur Rani.

Morni Hills, a much sought-after tourist destination, is the only hill station in Haryana. Morni Hills is the perfect weekend getaway destination. Shivalik range of the Himalayas is expanded all across Morni. Morni is a village and tourist attraction in the Morni Hills at the height of 1,267 metres (4,157 ft) in the Panchkula district of the Indian state of Haryana. It is located around 45 kilometres (28 mi) from Chandigarh, 35 kilometres (22 mi) from Panchkula city and is known for its Himalayan views, flora, and lakes.

This institute was established in 2008-09, as Govt. Polytechnic for Women at Morni, Panchkula with sanctioned intake of 60 in Diploma in Computer Engg., and intake of 60 in Diploma in Hotel Management. Later on in 2014, Diploma of Hotel Management was discontinued and two new courses namely, Diploma in Medical Lab Technology and Diploma in Architecture Assistantship were introduced in the institute. The Polytechnic has been functioning under society mode.
